e-Estonia Live: internet freedom in Estonia and around the world

Woman, laptop, internet

Article content

The e-Estonia Live webinar series is hosted weekly on our e-Estonia Facebook page, where we connect with Estonian state experts and company representatives to discuss current issues and the developments within e-Estonia.

Following the publication of the Freedom House “Freedom on the Net” report – in which Estonia ranks 2nd right behind Iceland – we figured it was about time to talk not about digital services but about the platform that enables all of this high-tech wizardry: the internet!

Private and public experts chime in

Our Digital Transformation Adviser Florian Marcus was joined by Hille Hinsberg, Product Manager at the digital transformation consultancy firm Proud Engineers, and Indrek Õnnik, Global Affairs Director at the CIO Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.

A number of scintillating topics were touched upon during this one-hour conversation that also included questions from the live audience. The discussion went from the potential pitfalls of crypto-backdoors and mass data storage to the effect of global rankings on policy-making and the shift in internet freedom across the world.
