In the newest episode of The Art of Digitalisation, host Johanna-Kadri Kuusk takes a close look at Estonia’s AI Leap – a national initiative aimed at making the use of AI in education consistent, responsible, and accessible across schools. Through five interviews with teachers, programme leaders, and an educational psychologist, the episode explores what is already changing in classrooms, how the rollout is structured, and what risks and opportunities AI creates for learning.
The episode features insights from Merike Saar, English teacher at Tallinn French School; Agne Kosk, teacher and Head of Languages at Pelgulinna State Upper Secondary School; Maia Boltovsky, regional lead of the AI Leap; Piret Oppi, AI Leap teacher programme lead; and Anneli Veispak, Associate Professor of Technology-Enhanced Learning at Estonian Business School.
Teachers describe both the promise and the pressure: AI can support planning, ideation, and feedback, but it also raises concerns around privacy, ethics, and academic honesty. The programme’s approach focuses on teacher training and professional learning communities, alongside a new learning app designed to guide students with questions rather than give instant answers.
