🎙️ e-Estonia podcast: Ott Velsberg, Government Chief Data Officer: #Bürokratt is Siri on steroids

If you are into AI, the next thing in e-governance, you will not want to miss this episode of our podcast. You will hear how much AI projects cost, why Ott Velsberg, the Government Chief Data Officer, considers #Bürokratt, the new public virtual assistant “Siri on steroids.”

As a national Chief Data Officer, Ott Velsberg oversees the strategic coordination of data governance, data science, including AI, open data, citizen-centric data governance, etc. As the Estonian government operates on a lean management principle, he has to lead many projects himself.  In AI alone, the government has 80 completed case studies, and 30 projects are ongoing. A few years ago, Velsberg even put together a Master’s programme in Data Science that Tartu University carries out now.

Our host Florian Marcus dived into many intriguing topics with Velsberg – how and why Estonians trust the government with their data, how big is the Estonian market for open data (hint: it’s big!), and how to raise more awareness regarding the usage and opportunities of open data, how much AI developments cost, and why Estonia’s new virtual assistant #Bürokratt is “Siri on steroids.”
