In the latest episode of The Art of Digitalisation, we turn our focus to e-health,  one of the most impactful areas where digitalisation directly shapes our daily lives. From improving patient care to making healthcare systems more efficient and resilient, digital health shows how data, innovation, and technology can keep us healthier for longer.

🎧 Listen to the episode on Apple Podcast and Spotify and hear:

Kertti Merimaa, leading e-Health expert and innovator at Nortal, formerly Chief Digital Health Officer at Estonia’s Ministry of Social Affairs, discussed:

  • What AI in healthcare really means.

  • Key challenges: societal readiness, regulation (EU AI Act), and the importance of creating safe “regulatory sandboxes.”

  • Why Estonia, with its digital infrastructure and culture of trust, is an ideal testbed for new e-Health solutions.

Jason Grenfell-Gardner, CEO of  J. Molner Company, a pharmaceutical firm operating across three continents, covered:

  • The importance of focusing on essential but overlooked medicines (e.g., antibiotics, pediatric drugs) amid fragile global supply chains.

  • How Estonia’s digital-native workforce enables pharma innovation, even in a heavily regulated industry.

  • His vision of Estonia building a pharmaceutical industry based on intellectual property and expertise (“brains before bricks”), not just factories.
