Guardtime today announced the appointment of Randy D. Bishop as the General Manager for its newly established energy business. Mr. Bishop brings three decades of military, government, and industry cybersecurity expertise as well as relationships across the critical infrastructure and energy markets, including the United States Department of Energy (DOE).
Mike Gault, CEO of Guardtime said:
“Randy’s combination of deep domain expertise in cybersecurity as well his extensive career working with the US DOE will put him in a very strong position to lead our energy business and bring innovative blockchain based cybersecurity solutions to energy companies.”
Guardtime was recently awarded a contract with the US DOE’s premier energy grid lead, the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, to address numerous challenges in modern Energy Delivery Systems (EDS). Mr. Bishop’s appointment is key to accelerating blockchain cybersecurity technology adoption to help secure distributed energy resources at the grid’s edge, increasing the trustworthiness and integrity of complex energy exchanges.
The recent award teams Guardtime, Pacific Northwest National Labs (PNNL), Washington State University, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), Siemens and the U.S. DoD Homeland Defense and Security Information Analysis Center (HDIAC) to help modernize the U.S. energy infrastructure. The speed, size and complexity of energy data and transactions is increasing exponentially, and to help overcome these challenges, Guardtime’s KSI Blockchain technology is positioned to provide a unique value proposition to help optimize and secure these critical data sets.
