In a recent Newsweek interview, Prime Minister Kristen Michal underscored Estonia’s global leadership in digital governance and artificial intelligence. With 100% of government services digitised, Estonia is entering a new phase—embedding generative AI and machine learning into public services, business processes, and education.
Michal emphasised Estonia’s close collaboration with entrepreneurs and tech companies to eliminate bureaucracy and boost innovation. Over 120 AI applications are already used across the public sector, making services more predictive, personalised, and proactive.

The Prime Minister also pointed to the importance of education in preparing the next generation of “smartest users” of emerging technologies, ensuring Estonia remains a competitive and innovative digital society.
