e-estonia digital discussion: how to keep cyberspace secure

Join us on the 21st of January at 11 AM (+2GMT) for our new year’s first e-Estonia Digital Discussion, where three leading Estonian cyber security companies –CyberneticaCybexer and Veriff, present their unique solutions for keeping the cyberspace secure. Digital Transformation Adviser Anett Numa will give an overview of Estonia’s challenges and wins in cyberspace and Raul Rikk, National Cyber Security Policy Director will talk you through what the cyber security ecosystem consists of and what lessons can Estonia teach other countries.

This global crisis has shown how important it is to build a transparent and reliable digital infrastructure with stable and secure cyberspace. With years of experience, Estonia has developed extensive expertise in this area and is globally recognised as a country with safe e-services both in the public and private sector. These services’ cornerstones are the secure data exchange layer X-Road and widely used strong authentication solutions like e-ID, m-ID, and Smart-ID.

A series of cyber-attacks in 2007 was the catalyst for a shift in Estonia’s cyber security landscape. After that, scalable blockchain technology was developed to ensure the integrity of information stored in government databases and to protect against insider threats. As a nod to its innovation and diligence, Estonia hosts both the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence and the European IT agency.

About the companies:

Cybernetica / Liisa Past, Head of Cyber Security Business Development

Cybernetica is an R&D intensive ICT company that develops and sells mission-critical software systems and products, digital identity and secure data exchange technologies, maritime surveillance and radio communications solutions to over 35 countries across the world. They have been an active counterpart in developing critical e-Government systems, such as the Estonian X-Road, i-Voting, e-Customs, and others. Cybernetica has a growing offering of cybersecurity and risk management tools, including developing a situational awareness platform that can be integrated with other IT and security management systems.

Veriff / Janer Gorohhov, CPO

Veriff is building infrastructure for trust, they allow any website and mobile application to match the person with a government issued ID. Veriff’s technology helps to protect businesses and their customers from online identity fraud by making sure that a person is who they claim to be. Veriff just published a global Fraud Report 2020 to see what the digital fraud trends are. The findings show that fraud is on the rise – which isn’t surprising, considering that most businesses have moved online due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Cybexer / Lauri Almann, Co-founder

CybExer Technologies is a NATO-awarded Estonian cybersecurity company. They have wide-ranging experience in providing and maintaining highly sophisticated IT platforms with a special focus on cyber capability development. Their platforms are the key to our successful delivery of a plethora of cybersecurity trainings and exercises aimed at ordinary users, technical responders and the very top of strategic leadership.
The Digital Discussions are FREE but require preregistration. The event is organised in technical partnership with Royal Experience.

“Thank you very much for this very valuable discussion! I am so happy to see these major steps that Estonia is making into Precision Medicine. I am pretty positive that this will be a good example and a good start for the digitalization of the Healthcare system in Europe and beyond.”

Klevinda Fili

Msc in Pharmacy and Biotechnology, Czech Republic

Great and well-organized event! Interesting to see how health and tech professionals work together to tackle the pandemic and joint forces with the World Health Organization. Both Estonia’s public and private sectors have valuable and unique knowledge to share with the world.”
